About the Market

The Met Farmers' Market had its first year in 2021, taking place every Sunday in the vibrant parklands at Queen and Church Streets in downtown Toronto. A Metropolitan United Church initiative, we strive to be a "food-hub" style market that contributes to an accessible community food space.

Please note The Met Farmers' Market will not run in 2022 due to a planned redevelopment of the park where the market is held. The market will return in June 2023.

Our speciality is hand-folded Nepali Momos, made with locally-grown produce and poultry. We grow some ingredients such as chayote, tomatoes, hot peppers, chives, onions, coriander in our backyards and a 70 feet long by 4 feet wide leased garden bed in Rouge Valley in Scarborough. We are passionate about ecologically sustainable practices. We want to gel our lived experiences from the past with the present in our culinary practices for a sustainable future.

The Food Equity Project

My name is Jasmine and I'm the founder and lead farmer of The Food Equity Project. We are a for-profit organization located in Erin, Ontario. Our initiative aims to create sustainable food solutions for QTBIPOC groups. The Food Equity Project bridges the gap between food insecure homes through farming and community-based services. Our vision is to be a part of systemic change, end food injustice, and empower communities. My farming journey began when I was accepted into the farming mentorship Growing in the Margins, this program shaped my food activism in many ways. It allowed me to embrace decolonizing land and food movements into my own enterprise. Cheyenne Sundance offers a rewarding program for BIPOC youth that want to start their own farming or food justice projects.
